My First Mink

Buckshot I have a story that I hope you deem good enough for your Young Trappers page.  Here it goes.

Unlike most young trapper's their grandpa or dad gets them started in trapping. Well, for me it was my grandmother. We were out deer hunting and we saw my cousin running his trap line.  He was following a drag. My grandma ask him what the animal was and he said a 'yote. She told him to go to the top of the ridge and squall like a 'coon so he went up and did what he was told and two minutes later we heard a shot and my grandma said, "We just saved him half an hour search."

Back at the house I asked my grandma if she could show me how to trap.  So, the next day we were outside at the crack of dawn with #1 longsprings she showed me how to make dirtholes and use the #1's and said, "You don't need those big traps for fox and 'coon."

The next day we checked the traps we hadn't caught anything, 'till we got to the last one and a mink scared the stuffing out of me.  My grandma told me to dispatch the mink and I did as I was told.  And now I have a very nice and prime mink on my wall.
