I first got interested in trapping 4 years ago but didn't have any traps or support because my dad said it was hard work for the little money so I just read about trapping and hoped to get a line out someday. Then this year rolled around and my parents were hounding me to get a job but theirs not many places to work in small towns then like 3 weeks ago a kid started school with me and he said he was a trapper and he said big coons were up to $15 not skinned so I went home and got the two #2 double long springs and snares out of the shed and called my friend to tell him to drop off the traps he borrowed from me in the morning. So I went out to the swamp type area that's 2 miles outside of town and set the two #2 double longs springs in a beaver channel with a dive stick not realizing they were to small for a back foot catch) and I put the snare on what I thought was a beaver trail. The next day I checked them and their was nothing in the beaver set and the snare had about a 25lb coon waiting for me so I dispatched it in total awe that I caught something and took it home to find my traps waiting for me. Then I had to go to school so when I got home I went back out and set 6 snares and 4 dirt hole sets and this time I put out a #3 Bridger for the beaver. Never caught a thing for 4 days and I had out a lot more traps!
Finally I picked up another coon in a snare and 3 days later I snared another coon. Then I had some stolen bait and caught a opossum in a dirt hole set with a Bridger #2. The beaver were driving me nuts so I borrow a #330 from a friend and went out and set it. The next day I caught a coon in a #1 1/2 coil spring in a blind set so I got my hopes back up and then I caught my first beaver in the #330 channel set the next day it weighed around 45lbs and I also got a opossum in a dirt hole set using a #2 double long spring. Then the fur buyer came and luckily I picked up another beaver so I had more fur. So 2 weeks and 8 animals good enough for me!!!!!!!! But know the coons are hibernating so I'm trying for fox and yotes. My total check for my first 2 weeks was $43.00 and it went out for a half dozen duke #1 3/4 and a duke #110. Trapping is quite the rush! Trapper for life.
